Legacy

Ultimately Tandy will be remembered for a multitude of things. There are still things that make him known for what he did for African Americans and for architecture. He was the first to other things besides being the first registered black architect. He was also the first African American to pass the military commissioning examination and was commossion First Lieutenant in the 15th Infantry of the New York Staet National Guard.

A few lasting parts of his legacy include being a leader in getting Alpha Phi Alpha incorporated as well as being the designer of the fraternity pin and being the first treasurer. His lasting legacy in architecture is designing the mansion of millionaire  Madame C.J. Walker, known as Villa Lewaro, and the Ivy Delph Apartments listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
